Move .wsp file for site to a different site collection
Use these references to move a .wsp file for a site to a different site collection. This process can take a few hours and requires Visual Studio.
Open the .wsp file, get the onet.xml file, and remove features that prevent the .wsp file from working on the destination site.
You <can> edit the onet.xml file for a web template–just not for a site definition. For web template onet.xml files, you can remove the features out of the onet.xml file for the web template. End users would need Visual Studio to accomplish this and recompile their web template file. Here is the way you can do it:
